Thousands of Californians are moving out amid a sour economy an...

advertisement

This is a topic in the Chicago Tribune. I thought it was a current topic, but I was wrong. It started about January 13, 2009. It is still going and there are about 60 pages on this topic. The TOPIC is here.

I read three or four pages of the comments before I realized that they were written in January. Then I went to page 60 and read some of the comments there. There were comments made on July 8, 2009 and after.

There's some amazing stuff in the topic. For example one of the comments said that people shouldn't move to Chicago, because Chicago is the next California.

The next thing I noticed was that the people commenting seemed to be conservative and anti liberal. I must admit that I have a conservative bias. It's all there to read for yourself, and you can decide.

I read between the lines, and came up with the idea that the people don't have confidence in our democratic republic. They are smarter than I have given them credit for in the past. In my opinion, we don't have a democratic republic. What we do have is a bunch of crooked people in the government that are out of control. These people in government are not working in the public interest, and the public is more or less helpless; they are bystanders. They wait to see what the fools are going to do. The public knows what is best for the country. They have expressed themselves here better than in any poll. The fools act in direct opposition to the public interest. For example, the UAW had a lot to do with the demise of General Motors and Chrysler. Did the fools reign them in; no, they did everything in their power to get their votes. The illegals are ruining California, and what do the fools do; they do everything in their power to get the votes of the illegals. They could care less if illegals ruin California. They put politics ahead of the common good.

We didn't have socialist forefathers; now we have a bunch of socialist fools. Here's a link to the world poverty bill that was promoted by Obama and others, while Obama was in the Senate. WORLD POVERTY BILL

In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that declaration commits nations to banning; small arms and light weapons; and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The bill didn't pass, but if it had passed; do you see where Obama, the socialist, was heading?

This country needs socialism like it needs swine flu or a nuclear attack.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Wolf: everything is possible, indeed, when you believe to have an endless supply of expendable labor and wealth. Unfortunately, that's a delusion Mr. Obama will wake up from soon enough.

I've been thinking. Boxer, Feinstein, Pelosi, Waxman, and Waters seem to more interested in politics than the common good. The common good is more important than the Democrats and Obama. Illegal immigrants and their consequences are more important than votes for Democrats. Balancing the California budget is more important than catering to unions.

Yes, and perhaps with some counsel from al-Gore, the Democrats will come up with a fast way to make illegal immigrants an entirely new voting bloc.

I hope none of those Californians find their way here.

    Wolf

Outstanding opinion piece. We have fools who make tools out of the ignorant.

They are fools not because of low intelligence. But rather because their short-sighted political ambitions blind them from the unintended consequences of their actions to secure reliable votes.

Imagine congressmen walking around each day trying to determine how next to secure more voters "must find voters ... must find voters". As sick as that sounds, that is essentially what we have. Consistent, predicatable power base for the party trumps the good of the nation in today's climate.
