I can't see where the UAW helped it's members. They bargained for short term gains. They won battles, and lost the war.
Under bankruptcy; the UAW is subject to court decisions. The court doesn't have to bargain. The court can tell them how the cookie crumbles.
Under the Big Three UAW contracts, the cost of labor was $73 an hour. Toyota pays $47 an hour.
As Tom Kee, President and Founder of Stock Traders Daily observed, "Organized labor seemed to help the workers, but the collapse of the companies was the result instead."
Now the Democrats want to quit secret ballots in labor elections, so workers will be pushed into voting for unions.
Obama and the Democrats love unions.
